French Trivia Contest

In celebration of National French Week (Nov. 6-13), the World Languages and Cultures Department is hosting a French Trivia Contest on Wednesday, November 13 at 11 am in the Student Center Theater.

As part of the University’s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the World Languages and Cultures Dept partnered with the Organization of Latin American Students (OLAS) and Freedom, two student groups, to bring a mini Hispanic film festival to campus.

The World Languages and Cultures Department hosts a special informational event, Explora Español, on Monday, September 30, 2024, 3:00-4:00 pm in Webb 233B. This event is specially geared toward first- and second-year students at Eastern that are heritage and native Spanish speakers. The aim of Explora Español is to highlight unique benefits of studying Spanish in college for those that have a familiarity with the language.

Film Screening: Saint Omer

On Wednesday, November 15 the World Languages and Cultures Department hosts a screening of Alice Diop's Saint Omer, an award winning French film that chronicles the lives of two Black (immigrant) women, one accused of causing her toddler's death, and the other a writer attending the trial. Critics have described the film as breathtaking and soul-shaking. Join us!

On Wednesday, December 6 from 5-6 pm, the World Languages and Cultures Department hosts a Game Night (Noche de Juego; Une Soiree-Juex) with a variety of board games and card games that are popular in French and Spanish speaking countries.
