At the World Languages and Cultures Department’s Welcome Back Social in September, students expressed interest in a game night. We listened!
On Wednesday, December 6 from 5-6 pm, the World Languages and Cultures Department hosts a Game Night (Noche de Juego; Une Soiree-Juex) with a variety of board games and card games that are popular in French and Spanish speaking countries.
Don’t stress! Game Night is not a dense language learning lesson. On the contrary, it is fun night to escape the pressure of the end of the semester. Come hang out with friends, play some new and different games and enjoy some snacks.
Try your luck at Dominoes, a game muy popular en Puerto Rico. Or race your classmates across a Parchís or Juego de la Oca game boards. If card games are more your speed, try playing a hand of Mille Bornes or Loups-Garous de Thiercelieux, games with car racing and werewolves. Or perhaps you are looking for Spanish vocabulary practice, try stumping your opponent with Spanish Bananagrams. Pelar!
No prior experience with games, or Spanish or French is necessary. Game Night is simply for the fun of it. Directions to all games will be provided in English and in the game’s home language. Popcorn and coffee will be provided. Join us!
