If Majoring in Spanish or Minoring in Spanish or French,
The French minor consists of 15 credits above FRE 111, of which 6 can be CLEP credits
The Spanish minor consists of 15 credits above SPA 111, of which 6 can be CLEP credits
The World Languages & Cultures minor consists of 9 credits above the 111 level in one language, and 6 credits (introductory or otherwise) in another language. For either one, 6 CLEP credits can be applied.
The Spanish major consists of 36 credits above the 111 level, of which 6 can be CLEP credits
For example: If you score high enough in the CLEP, you need only 3 more classes to get a minor, or 10 more classes for a Spanish major.
It will depend on the extent of your exposure to the language, how long ago that was and how much you remember. There are test preparation books at many public libraries or available for purchase online.
You can take it at Eastern and many other locations throughout the state. As of 2022, the CLEP costs $109 ($89 for the test, $20 to get the College Board to send the results).
