On Thursday, March 9 the World Languages and Cultures Department hosted Engel Sanchez of Muchícimo Digital Marketing agency as a guest speaker.
After recently relocating from Hartford to Miami, Muchísimo is an agency that specializes in Hispanic and multicultural digital marketing. In both English and Spanish, they help their business clients with a range of services from social website development and search engine optimization to social media marketing and customer relationship management.
Using Teams as a virtual meeting place, Mr. Sanchez used his 20-plus years in the marketing field to talk about the current state and expected growth of the Hispanic consumer market in the US. He stressed that the size, expected growth, and diversity of the Hispanic community presents a vibrant landscape for targeted digital marketing. Utilizing examples from Muchísimo’s client, Sanchez highlighted some of the common business practices, such as client recruitment and project management. He also shared personal stories from his own educational journey and career growth to help guide students in preparing for their upcoming careers.
A number of Eastern’s Spanish language students attended the talk and asked questions that highlighted their interest to succeed after graduation. Students looked to learn about the size of Muchísimo and what a typical day looks like for various positions within the organization. Other students asked for advice about desired Master’s-level degrees.
This event is part of a regular guest lecture series within the World Languages and Cultures Department. Each year the Department recruits and hosts guest speakers from businesses and other fields that are of interest to our students. Past speakers include interpreters, translators, medical professionals, and digital marketing managers. These talks help prepare our students for their future careers by offering real world perspectives and valuable contacts.
