Supporting Student Mental Health

  • Hope in a Time of Monsters: Supporting Faculty and Student Mental Health: In May 2024, Dr. Sarah Rose Cavanagh gave a virtual presentation on how higher education should respond to both faculty depletion and the student mental health crisis so that faculty can support students without burning out. The presentation referenced content from her book, Mind Over Monsters: Supporting Youth Mental Health with Compassionate Challenge. The recorded presentation and her workshop materials are available on the CTLA Sharepoint site (requires Eastern login).
  • Supporting Student Mental Health in the Classroom: In February 2023, Victoria DeVeau, DSW and LCSW, was invited by Dr. Madeleine Fugère to present on supporting student mental health. The presentation featured information about protective and risk factors, spotting signs of distress and red flags in the classrooms, how faculty can help students, and available resources for students. Thanks to Dr. DeVeau for making her slides available to the CTLA (Eastern login required to view slides).
