Here at Eastern, we prepare students for various careers in healthcare. We provide a comprehensive scientific background that provides them with the academic pre-requisites for pursuing these careers and a liberal arts education that focuses on developing their critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills. As a department and a university, we focus on experiential, hands-on learning to ensure that our students know how to apply the knowledge and skills that they acquire at Eastern. Internships serve as an invaluable experience for our students to practically apply their formal education.
Internships are required for those HSC majors with a concentration in Public Health but are highly recommended for all Health Science majors. Students can earn academic credit for their Internships at organizations, businesses, and institutions outside of Eastern. Please explore our departmental Internship Manual for guidance on how to get academic credit for your Internship.
The Department of Health Sciences offers a two week Global Field Internship in Ghana, West Africa each summer. Please click here to learn more about this internship opportunity.
Below are some examples of Internships that Eastern HSC students have been involved in:

Connecticut Department of Public Health
