Eastern Connecticut State University students that have graduated from the health sciences major and other majors have the opportunity to continue on to Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs at Fairfield University, Southern Connecticut State University, or the University of Connecticut, with an additional year of coursework through callaborative agreement.
The Department of Health Sciences and Nursing has an information session every year for new students who are interested in nursing programs, and we discuss with interested students through advising individually about how to prepare their applications, course selections, and academic expectations.
Students must take all prerequisites at Eastern and meet the minimum grades and grade points average at Eastern to be eligible for direct admission. Eligible students who would like to apply for those Accelerated Nursing Programs must inform the Department of Health Sciences and Nursing before their applications. We will check their eligibility and submit their names to the admission officers of those programs, and they will process their applications through this agreement. For more information, please contact Dr. Geeta Thapa at thapag@easternct.edu
As of 2021, all Eastern graduates who have met the minimum GPA requirements and applied to one of the three programs have been accepted. Nonetheless, Eastern cannot guarantee that eligible students will receive acceptance offers from those universities.
