CHESLA was created by the state of CT in 1982 to help students and families finance the cost of higher education by reducing the financial burden of borrowing. CHESLA is excited to continue to award scholarships to eligible students in pursuit of higher education in the State of CT.

Students must be a resident of the state of CT. Be enrolled as an undergraduate student at least half-time. Be enrolled and attending an eligible degree granting institution of higher education in the 2025-26 academic year (Check website for full list). Be Pell eligible. Obtaining a college education is expensive, and the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts strives to provide some financial assistance to students living in Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties to help them achieve their goal of graduating from college.
