Awards and Scholarships
The Department of Art & Art History sponsors a number of honors and awards for its majors. We have scholarships and awards for current students and awards for graduating Seniors.
- Andy Jones Visual Arts Scholarship - This scholarship was established in 2007 from the funds collected from the sale of the "Connecticut Quarter" prints designed for the U.S. Mint by Andy Jones, Professor of Art. The recipient(s) must be a junior majoring in Visual Arts and in good academic standing.
- Arnold Prince Art Fund Memorial Endowed Scholarship - The scholarship was established in 2014 and endowed in 2016 by Emerita Art Professor Claudia Widdiss to honor the memory of her late husband, sculptor, and teacher Arnold Prince. Arnold was an accomplished sculptor and longtime sculpture professor at the Rhode Island School of Design. He inspired and mentored many students during his long career. The scholarship is awarded to an Art major who has demonstrated a serious commitment to work in the art form of sculpture.
- Excellence Award - The award is presented to graduating Seniors who excel in a particular area, such as Art History, Graphic Design, Animation, Mixed Media Painting, and more.
