Global Field Courses - Ghana

Thirteen Eastern students from the Health Sciences, Business and Communication Departments went on a transformational trip to Ghana, West Africa. from May 20-June 2, 2018. The students had a unique hands-on experience in a rural hospital in Mampong, Ghana, where they observed cesarean sections, visited the maternity ward, and conducted well-baby check-ups and observed how babies are vaccinated. The students also volunteered at an orphanage and went to a grade school where they interacted with students.


The Eastern students also had the opportunity to live in village of Assamang, Ashanti, where they interacted with local children and residents and became part of village life for their two weeks in Ghana.
During free time, the students climbed a mountain, went to a waterfall, visited a monkey preserve, visited elephant and crocodile sanctuaries and learned about the history of the slave trade by going to a slave castle in Cape Coast.
