Robyn Rodriguez was among the twelve outstanding seniors from the four Connecticut State Universities who were honored at the Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Awards presented by the Connecticut State University System Foundation during their annual banquet.
To be considered for a Barnard Award, a student must have at least a 3.75 GPA and a record of significant community service. Robyn, a history and political science major had a 3.99 GPA. She will begin working toward her PhD in History this fall at Ohio State University.
After graduating in May 2005 with a degree in economics and political science, Desmarais plans to study economics at Duke University. He has maintained a superb academic record, making Dean's List all eight semesters at Eastern, and is in the honors society in each of his majors. Desmarais received first place in the Excellence Expo in 2004 for his project on NAFTA.
Desmarais is active in the community, volunteering as an adult tutor for the Literacy Volunteers of Northeastern Connecticut. Every fall Desmarais gives his time to organize functions for a youth football league.
