A Pre-requisite means a course or other requirement that a student must have taken prior to enrolling in a specific course.
A Co-requisite means a course or other requirement that a student must take at the same time as another course or requirement.
*The pre- and co-requisites for all courses can be found under the course descriptions in the eWeb schedule by clicking the CRN and then “View Catalog Entry” or just by clicking the course number in your Degree Works Evaluation.
When students register for courses using eWeb, the system will check for the pre- or co-requisite required for the course they have selected. The system will check courses completed, including transferred courses, as well as in-progress courses at Eastern that are officially recorded on the student record. If the student does not have the requirement on their record, the student will not be able to register for the course and will get an error message.
If a student believes that they have the appropriate pre-or corequisite, but receives the error message, they should email registrar@easternct.edu. *Note that if you were approved for a Subsitution or an Independent Study for a pre- or co-requisite requirement, you will need to obtain approval as indicated below (these are not recognized as meeting the requirement).
Students who wish to take the course without having satisfied the pre- or corequisite must obtain approval of both the Instructor and Department Chairperson of the course.
Students may request and pre- or corequisite override using their Eastern email and sending the following information to the Instructor and Department Chairperson of the course asking for a pre- or corequisite override:
If both Instructor and Department Chairperson have provided their written approval, forward the approvals to registrar@easternct.edu

I believe that have taken enough courses related to the topic that will allow me to succeed in this course. Do you both approve overriding the pre-requisite? If so, please forward your approvals to registrar@easternct.edu.
Thank you.
The Registrar’s Office will then review the request and respond the the email chain once processed or if additional information is required.
