Most 100-level courses are not open to students who will be registered for 60 or more credits in the term they intend to take the course (Junior and Senior Standing).
When students register for courses using eWeb, the computer system will check to see what their class standing will be during the semester they intend to take the course. If the student will be a Junior or Senior during that semester they will not be able to sign up for the course and will get an error message.
On occasion extenuating circumstances require enrollment in these courses, such as a pre-requisite to a required course; change or addition to a program of study; upper division alternatives conflict with another course requirement.
Students may request a class restriction override using their Eastern email and sending the following information to their faculty advisor and ask for a class restriction override:
Please forward your approval to registrar@easternct.edu

Hello Professor {Advisor Name}, I would like to take the class listed above but I get a class restriction error when I attempt to register. I need this class to fulfill my LAC Tier I Literature and Thought requirement. If you approve, please forward this email chain to registrar@easternct.edu.

The Registrar’s Office will process your request and respond via Eastern email to you and your advisor once processed.
**Please note that HIS 120, 121, and PHY 102 require approval of the Department Chair offering the course in addition to your faculty advisor.**
If, for some reason you are unable to access your Eastern email account, you may fill out the bottom section of the Registration Approval Form, obtain the necessary signatures and return the form to the Registrars Office.
Some courses are limited to students who have the specific subject area declared as a Major. If a student wishes to take a course outside of their area of study and the course has this particular limitation, the Instructor of the course and Department Chair of the respective department will need to approve.
*Note that some courses with this restriction may also only require instructor permission, so be sure to check specifics listed under the course pre-requisites or in the course description.
If you are interested in taking a course as mentioned above, you can obtain approval from the Instructor and Department Chair by sending the following information to them from your Eastern Email:
