The Pride Center Office & Program Assistant, also known as the Pride Center Student Ambassador, works to support the mission and goals of the Pride Center. Student Ambassadors will assist in the daily operations of the Pride Center and work under the supervision of the Pride Center Graduate Intern. The Student Ambassador position includes, but is not limited to:
Provide a welcoming and accessible space to Pride Center attendees;
Have a creative, compassion-driven, and problem-solving mindset;
Ability to work on a dynamic and diverse team, collaborate and assist in Unity Wing events and initiatives;
Continually seek educational opportunities for learning about issues of intersectionality and social justice within the LGBTQIA2S+ community and the Unity Wing, as well as through the maintenance of resource libraries ensuring accuracy and accessibility;
Contribute to and assist in daily operations of the Pride Center;
Assist with the creation and implementation of various programs and initiatives of the Pride Center;
Applicants must be able to manage multiple tasks, work in a lively environment, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills;
Skills in graphic design, health promotions/sciences, and social work are encouraged to apply.
The Pride Center is one of the three centers that make up the Arthur L. Johnson Unity Wing, which also includes the Intercultural Center and the Women's Center. The Unity Wing champions creating an inclusive community at Eastern. Each Center builds bridges of intersectionality that celebrate the kaleidoscope of cultures and identities through co-curricular programs and services that integrate diversity, inclusion, and equity into the holistic development of all Eastern students.
JOB REQUIREMENTS The Pride Center Student Ambassador must be a currently enrolled Eastern student in good standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to social justice and diversity and desire to develop spaces to challenge issues of social injustice, heterosexism, homophobia, transphobia, and other forms of oppression. The Student Ambassador must also show enthusiasm to represent the Pride Center, willingness to work with others and individually and collaborate with clubs/organizations and various offices and departments within the university. Qualified applicants must be able to manage multiple tasks, work in a lively environment, and have strong communication skills.
