Emeritus Status can be bestowed upon eligible members of AAUP and SUOAF employees as outlined in their individual collective bargaining agreements. Emeritus Status can also be bestowed to Management/Confidential employees as outlined in the CSCU Policies for Management & Confidential Professional Personnel. Benefits to the members awarded Emeritus Status are outlined in the before-mentioned agreements or policies.
To be considered for Emeritus Status, the individual will need to be an employee in good standing that will be retiring from the University. The employee will need to submit an email to be considered to their department. Approval must be recommended by their department, appropriate Dean (if applicable), and appropriate Vice President. The President of the University will have final approval. If the individual requesting Emeritus Status is a retiring Vice President, the request will go directly to the President of the University.
Upon confirmation of Emeritus Status, the employee will retain their title upon retirement from the University with the word “Emeritus/Emerita” added to the end.

Professor – Emeritus (or Emerita)
Assistant Professor – Emeritus (or Emerita)

Director of Financial Aid – Emeritus (or Emerita)
