Gail Gelburd

Biography

Gail Gelburd, Ph.D., teaches courses on Non-Eurocentric Contemporary art. Her scholarship and art focuses on the intersection of art, politics and spirituality. She has curated and participated in more than 30 exhibitions that have appeared in nine countries, and has authored numerous publications. She has been invited to lecture in Cuba, China, India, South Africa, Australia and at such major institutions as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Whitney Museum and Brooklyn Museum, Williams College.

Of Note

Professor Gelburd was recently featured in INK Publications in an article entitled “Gail Gelburd: The Artist's Koan.” She has also been awarded a Residency in Skopelos, Greece for 2019. She has received grants from the Rockefeller Foundation, Ford Foundation and a fellowship to study Jainism in India. Her publication “Creative Solutions to Ecological Issues” featured an essay by Al Gore.
