EES Program Learning Goal 1
Develop knowledge of key concepts, scientific principles, and over-arching themes in Environmental Earth Science and Sustainability
- Learning Outcome 1: Students demonstrate knowledge of key concepts and foundational scientific principles in Earth Science and Sustainability.
EES Program Learning Goal 2
Demonstrate techniques and approaches in scientific inquiry and critical thinking
- Learning Outcome 1: Students apply core competencies such as problem-solving, verbal and written communication, independent and critical thinking, collaborative teamwork, numeracy, leadership, individual resiliency and other transferable skills to scientific inquiry and problem solving in environmental earth science and sustainable energy science.
EES Program Learning Goal 3
Apply concepts of scientific responsibility
- Learning Outcome 1: Students accurately and precisely report observations, data, and experimental results, and recognize the potential impact of bias.
- Learning Outcome 2: Students critically evaluate and interpret data.
- Learning Outcome 3: Students address ethical, socioeconomic, regulatory, and environmental implications of earth/energy/environmental issues.
- Learning Outcome 4: Students act responsibly in the lab and field (i.e., follow safety procedures and cause no or minimal environmental impact).
EES Program Learning Goal 4
Effectively communicate scientific information
- Learning Outcome 1: Students present original work that demonstrates clarity and conciseness of writing in reports, lab exercises and field assignments, with proper citation of published sources.
- Learning Outcome 2: Students engage in class discussions and scientific debate using evidence-based arguments and a logical progression of ideas
