Performance: Acting, Choreography, and Playwriting Concentration

This concentration offers training in acting for stage and screen, choreography and dance, and playwriting, preparing students for careers in the entertainment industry. Students have the opportunity to perform and create work for main stage and student-produced live performance, as well as film and television.

Students must take the following: 18 credits

Foundational

  • CFT 100 Performance Media Collaborations - 3 credits
  • CFT 101 Entertainment Industry Employability - 1 credit
  • COM/FLM 220 Video & Film Production - 3 credits
  • CFT 401 Career Preparation - 1 credit

Oral Communication

Choose one:
  • COM 230 Public Speaking - 3 credits
    or
    THE 174 The Actor's Voice - 3 credits

Level 2 Writing Intensive

Choose one:
  • THE 265 World Performance & Culture - 3 credits
    or
    CFT 205 Media Writing - 3 credits

Capstone

Choose one:
  • THE 474 Experimental Theatre - 3 credits
    or
    FLM 440 Film & Video for Clients - 3 credits
    or
    FLM 400 ECSU Film Project - 3 credits

In addition to the 18 credits of core courses listed above, students must complete 24 credits in a concentration of specialized interest:

Practica
