Design, Technology, and Performance Media Concentration

This concentration offers courses in traditional costume, scenic, lighting, and sound design, as well as projection media and design for immersive entertainment, preparing students for careers in design and technology for stage and screen. Students learn with industry-standard media servers, lighting and audio systems, scene shop and costume shop equipment, and specialty technologies such as motion capture.

Students must take the following: 18 credits

Foundational

  • CFT 100 Performance Media Collaborations - 3 credits
  • CFT 101 Entertainment Industry Employability - 1 credit
  • COM/FLM 220 Video & Film Production - 3 credits
  • CFT 401 Career Preparation - 1 credit

Oral Communication

Choose one:
  • COM 230 Public Speaking - 3 credits
    or
    THE 174 The Actor's Voice - 3 credits

Level 2 Writing Intensive

Choose one:
  • THE 265 World Performance & Culture - 3 credits
    or
    CFT 205 Media Writing - 3 credits

Capstone

Choose one:

In addition to the 18 credits of core courses listed above, students must complete 24 credits in a concentration of specialized interest:
