Academic Alerts: Faculty Support

Faculty collaboration is key to student support. We need your help to identify students that may be at risk in your classroom. We hope to work with you to address and resolve student academic concerns as quickly as possible.

Please note - If you observe behavior that is of concern (more personal in nature), please utilize the Tell Somebody Report. Tell Somebody Reports are reviewed and addressed by Eastern's Student Intervention Team (SIT).

Academic Alert FAQs

  • Submitting an academic alert notifies the Academic Success Center that a student is at risk in an academic course. Once alerted, advisors in the Advising Center will actively reach out to students to provide support, suggest related campus resources, and work toward resolving the concern. Without an academic alert, advisors may be unaware of a student's current academic performance.

If you have concerns about a student’s academic performance or progress in a course, we encourage you to submit an Early Alert Report. Alerts can be submitted for any academic reason, including:

    • Excessive absences
    • Not submitting assignments
    • Low quiz/exam grades
  • The Academic Alert form can be accessed in a variety of ways:

    • Within your Microsoft 365 account
      • “All Apps” & “Submit an Academic Alert”
  • Once your Early Alert Report is submitted, an advisor in the Academic Success Center will actively reach out to the student. Below is an overview of the outreach process.

     Academic Alert Process

  • Advisors in the Advising Center will initiate outreach to every student who receives an academic alert. We encourage and appreciate outreach from assigned faculty advisors as well; if you are in touch with the advisee and/or have them as a student in class, you may bring the alert to their attention to discuss further. You may also refer student(s) to the Academic Success Center for additional resources including subject tutoring, study skills coaching, Writing Center, and/or Math Achievement Center.

The goal is to address student concerns as quickly as possible, confirm our commitment to supporting them through their academic journey, and connect them with appropriate resources across campus. Thank you for your support in this holistic approach.

  • If you have any questions, please contact the Advising Center’s Early Alert Coordinator, Morgan LaFlamme (laflammemo@easternct.edu).
