Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Eastern

Eastern's cohort-based Nursing program is dedicated to educating the future leaders of the nursing profession. Combining the core values of the liberal arts with innovating clinical experiences, students will obtain the necessary skills to provide exceptional healthcare to our community. In partnership with Hartford Healthcare, students benefit from experienced clinical faculty, a state-of-the-art clinical simulation lab at Windham Hospital, and clinical rotations at diverse Hartford Healthcare sites.

After completion, students will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam for licensure.

  • Students are directly admitted to the Nursing program. 
  • Four-year cohort-based program, with approximately 60 students in each cohort.
  • After completion, students will have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam for licensure.

Application Information

BSN Program Admission Criteria


  • Minimum overall high school GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale)
  • Grade of C or above in all relevant coursework in high school, including sciences, math, and medical science courses.
  • Submit a complete application to Eastern, including the additional nursing personal statement.
  • Acceptance by Eastern’s Nursing Program Admission Panel.
  • Recommended criteria: four years of math and science courses in high school.

 

BSN Program Application Requirements

  • Application to Eastern Connecticut State University.
  • Nursing Personal Statement. You will be prompted to include this in your application, or you may email it within one week to admissions@easternct.edu. The personal statement (limited to 500 words) should address the following: What educational and life experiences have led you to become interested in the nursing profession?
  • Strongly encouraged: letter of recommendation from science teacher.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The deadline to apply for admission to Nursing is March 1.

    Students are strongly encouraged to apply to Eastern and the Nursing program by the early action deadline of November 15. Early action applicants will receive their admission and major decision on December 15.

    After early action has passed, applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis as space permits.
