The William Backus Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association Scholarship was established in 2024 as one of the final actions of the Board of Directors of the William Backus Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association before the organization was dissolved. The scholarship was created as a permanent tribute to the alumnae of the school of nursing, which opened in 1893 and closed in 1972. The scholarship also preserves the legacy of the Alumnae Association’s longstanding commitment to supporting the educations and training of future nurses. The scholarship is awarded to a Nursing major (including students who hold an A.D.N. and have matriculated to Eastern for the purpose of completing their B.S.N.)
