Read Full StoryEastern Connecticut State University will host a major showcase of prison artworks from Dec. 8 through Feb. 28, 2026, in the Art Gallery of the Fine Arts Instructional Center. Organized by Community Partners in Action (CPA), the exhibition marks the 45th annual show of CPA’s Prison Arts Program and features 604 artworks by 162 artists from nine Connecticut correctional facilities.
Eastern’s Department of Psychological Science hosted its semesterly research showcase, “Psychapalooza,” on Dec. 1 in the Student Center's Betty R. Tipton Room. A culmination of semester-long projects for students enrolled in “Research Methods II," the event featured more than 50 poster presentations and three student speakers.
Two senior students in Eastern’s Department of Art and Art History recently showcased their research exploring surrealist and gothic art. Carmelena Jones ‘25 and AJ Beauregard ‘25 presented their senior theses in a symposium on Dec. 3 in Goddard Hall, focusing on artists who specialized in the abnormal.
Eastern student Caio de Sousa has wasted no time getting involved in Willimantic’s small business scene. Along with friend Griffin Ryan, the sophomore accounting major co-owns and operates T-Shirts with a Purpose (T-SWAP), a printing and marketing service located on Main Street.
The University Senate at Eastern recently passed a resolution affirming academic freedom. The resolution was voted on and approved on Oct. 21.

Eastern's Department of World Languages and Cultures and the Latino Chamber of Windham recently hosted a special event celebrating a semester of community partnerships and hands-on learning. Held on Nov. 19 in the President’s Dining Room at Hurley Hall, the celebration highlighted the experiences of students in the course “Spanish for Business,” led by Lecturer Angela Pitassi.
Emiliano Villanueva continues to be a global authority on the business of wine. The business administration professor and department chair was recently appointed as an assistant editor of the Wine Business Journal (WBJ) and invited to Argentina to present timely research concerning wineries in the region.
Eight students from Eastern Connecticut State University are taking their studies abroad during the fall 2025 semester. Each of the travelers has had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture of their respective destinations while expanding their academic spheres.
“Do it afraid. Do it anyway.” This was the message from keynote speaker Celeste Willard at “She Did It Anyway,” a networking event hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University’s Women’s Center. Held on Nov. 13 in the Student Center, the event gave students the opportunity to connect with women who are forging careers in the field of criminal justice.
