The Hartford hosts info session with BIS students

BIS students offered unique opportunities from insurance company

Eastern BIS alumni and Hartford Insurance representatives presented their Early Career Development Program” on Sept. 24, offering various opportunities for Eastern students from their first to senior year. The session highlighted various programs such as actuarial, claims, enterprise risk management, finance, investment management, operations and product development. All involve information systems and technology skills.

First-years were offered opportunities to build their personal brand and gain valuable insights. The program was aimed to better position students for future internships and full-time roles.

The “Sophomore Immersion Program” had students gain practical experience by working on case studies in teams and presenting various solutions to professionals at The Hartford.

The Hartford worked with juniors on 10–11-week full-time summer internships. This program offered students meaningful work assignments, mentorships and opportunities for skill development across various departments.

Seniors and graduate students were offered opportunities at a full-time rotational program for college graduates. Participants rotate through different roles to develop a broad skill set and identify their career interest.

A popular leadership development program (LDP) called “Tech, Data, Analytics, Cyber and Operations” (TDAC&O), as well as “Tech Catalyst,” were discussed. TDAC&O offers rotations in application development, cybersecurity, compliance, data analysis and software/environmental engineering, while Tech Catalyst participants focus on data or software engineering.

The Hartford offers unique aspects of these programs, meaningful work assignments, training, mentoring, competitive compensation, perks and executive level exposure. Several employees and alumni shared insights on their career paths and the company's offerings, reinforcing The Hartford's reputation as a great place to work and grow professionally.
