Eastern inducts hundreds into honor societies in spring 2024

More than 20 academic programs and departments at Eastern Connecticut State University recognized student achievements this spring 2024 semester during honor society inductions and award ceremonies.  

The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Criminology and Social Work inducted students into three honor societies this spring 2024 semester, including the Alpha Kappa Delta sociology honor society, the Phi Alpha social work honor society and Eastern's inaugural induction for the Alpha Phi Sigma criminal justice honor society.  

The Department of Communication, Film, and Theatre held its annual honor society ceremony on April 18, 2024 in the Fine Arts Instructional Center. This year's ceremony included induction into the Lambda Pi Eta national communication honor society and Eastern's inaugural induction for the Alpha Psi Omega national theatre honor society.  

The Department of Psychological Science held its annual Psi Chi honor society induction on April 26.  

The College of Business held its annual honor society ceremony on April 17 in the Student Center's Betty R. Tipton Room. The event included inductions for the Delta Mu Delta business honor society, Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honor society and Alpha Mu Alpha marketing honor society.  

The Department of Health Sciences and Nursing held its annual Phi Theta Delta honor society induction on April 24. 

The Department of Environmental Earth Science held its annual induction for the Sigma Gamma Epsilon honor society on May 2. 

The Department of History recognized 13 students at its annual Phi Alpha Theta honor society ceremony on April 12.  

The Women's and Gender Studies program held its annual Iota Iota Iota (Triota) honor society ceremony on April 19.  

The Department of World Languages inducted 2 students into the Sigma Delta Pi honor society on April 22. 

Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE), the international honor society for the computing sciences, inducted 21 computer science and business information systems students this spring.  

The Department of Biology inducted 11 students into the Beta Beta Beta (Tribeta) international honor society for biology on April 26.  

The Philosophy program inducted four students into the Phi Sigma Tau honor society for philosophy on April 25. 

The Department of Mathematical Sciences held its annual Kappa Mu Epsilon honor society induction on April 26 in the J. Eugene Smith Library. 

The Political Science program inducted 16 students into the Pi Sigma Alpha honor society for political science on April 17. 

The Department of English honored graduating seniors at its spring semester English Night on May 1. The event featured awards and student presentations. 

The Honors Program recognized 16 graduating seniors on May 11 for completing honors theses, the program's capstone requirement. 

The Department of Music held its annual honors recital and award ceremony on April 21 in the Concert Hall of the Fine Arts Instructional Center.  

The Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) leadership honor society inducted 32 new members.  

The Department of Education inducted 32 students into Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society for education.
