Eastern Connecticut State University welcomed thousands of students to campus this week for the start of the fall 2022 semester. Kicking off with move-in weekend Aug. 27-28, students reacquainted themselves with campus through a variety of events sponsored by Student Activities, the Campus Activity Board (CAB) and the Student Government Association (SGA).
This year’s incoming class of 723 full-time first-year students is composed of 30.4% students of color and 37.9% first-generation students. Twenty-one states are represented among the new students including Washington, D.C., and their average SAT score is 1167--the highest average SAT in years.
The Campus Activity Board (CAB) organized a range of activities for its annual Welcome Back Week from Aug. 28-Sept. 2. Events included a game show with the opportunity to win prizes, CAB Kickoff with a DJ, smores and mechanical shark, Inflatable Night and more.
Alyssa Duffy, assistant director of Student Activities, said the week of festivities was long in the works and much anticipated. “We are super excited to be back. The Campus Activity Board has been working tirelessly to provide a warm welcome for Eastern students,” said Duffy. “We began Welcome Back Week with the CAB Kickoff event, which had over 500 students in attendance. This really showed us how eager students are to be back on campus and to participate in events.”
The semester will continue with events planned by both CAB and Student Activities. To stay informed of upcoming events, follow @cabeastern on social media or visit the events calendar here.
