Eastern Athletes Win Presidents’ Cup for Academic Achievement

Eastern was named the top academic institution in the Little East Conference when it was presented with the Presidents’ Trophy for the second time in the six-year history of the award for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.11 during the 2014-15 academic year. The cup returned to Eastern after the Warriors had claimed the inaugural award during the 2009-10 academic year.

The Little East Conference Presidents’ Cup measures the highest cumulative grade point average of the eight institutions in the conference. Each college or university calculates the cumulative GPA for its student-athletes who competed in the league’s 19 championship-sponsored sports.

Last year, 80 Eastern student-athletes earned LEC All-Academic status, which recognizes sophomores, juniors and seniors who achieve minimum 3.30 GPAs during the semester. The women’s cross country and women’s soccer programs topped all of Eastern’s programs with cumulative GPAs of 3.42 and 3.39, respectively.
