Eastern retiree Carol Cusson Schimmelpfennig was recently honored for her 17 years of service to the Office of Admissions by having a window in the J. Eugene Smith Library named after her. Kim Crone, former director of admissions, spearheaded the Cusson window-naming campaign and said, “I had a number of conversations about Carol’s recent retirement. Her colleagues, along with several of the current students and alumni she helped, talked about her many unsung contributions and the positive influence she had across campus. People commented that something on campus should be named after Carol, because she did so much and helped so many over her 17-year-career in Admissions. The window naming was the perfect permanent recognition for a wonderful person who means so much to Eastern.”
The selected window on the main floor in the J. Eugene Smith Library overlooks Admissions. Almost $3,000 has been raised to date. The donations will be used for a scholarship for a deserving student with financial need. Anyone wishing to contribute can contact the Development Office at (860)465.4513.
