Professor Qimin Liu is the program director for the Eighth Annual AAC Art, Ecology, Observation International Itinerant Exhibition at Marquee Gallery in New London, which runs from Jan. 24-30. This exhibit is the opening exhibit in a tour around the United States that features several top tier Chinese artists. “We seek to develop and enhance our community as well as create a forum in which ideas and techniques can be shared among artists of all levels and cultural backgrounds,” said Liu. “Our residency and exhibition program is the pinnacle of this ideal. It is a chance to offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience for artists from around China visiting the United States, as well provide opportunities for U.S. artists to visit China.”
Professor Afarin Rahmanifar is being featured in the exhibit “Azadi va Edalat (“Freedom and Justice” in Persian): Stories Retold by Contemporary Iranian Women Artists,” which runs from Jan. 22-April 30 at Oglethorpe University’s Museum of Art in Atlanta, GA. Rahmanifar’s “Unraveled” exhibit will take place from April 16-Sept. 12 at Juniata College’s Museum of Art in Huntingdon, PA. In regard to her “Unraveled” paintings, Rahmanifar said, “I create ideal feminine figures or spaces, portraying the Feminine as desiring not just beauty, poetry and seduction, but also desiring, as does the artist herself, to tell the personal stories, that have shaped her life as a woman.”
Another exhibit will run from Jan. 20-Feb. 19 at The Spirol Gallery at Quinebaug Valley Community in Danielson, which will display Professor Muriel Miller’s “Landscapes” artwork. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 9a.m.-9 p.m.
