Biography

Dr. Chatterton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration. He is an advocate in the area of promoting physical activity and wellness and has served on numerous committees at the state and local level. These committees have included the Connecticut State Department of Education’s School Health and Mental Health Advisory Council, the Connecticut State Department of Education’s Wellness Education Promotions Committee, and the Connecticut State Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School State-wide Advisory Committee. He is a Past-President of the New England Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine and the Connecticut Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance and Past Chairperson of the Connecticut Governor's Committee on Physical Fitness. He has traveled to Washington, DC to advocate on physical education and physical activity related issues on multiple occasions. Chatterton has coached a variety of youth sports in his community and has completed 69 marathons related to his Taking Strides to Brake the Cycle of Poverty Marathon initiative. He earned his M.S. in Physical Education and B.S. in Physical Education and Health Education at the University of Delaware and his Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut in Sport, Leisure, and Exercise Science.
