Dr. Kwangwon Lee, Associate Professor of Early Childhood Special Education, and Dr. Jeffrey Trawick-Smith, Professor Emeritus of Eastern, recently had an article published in Young Children, a journal produced by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Their article is titled "Turn-Taking Play to Support Preschool Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder." The article offers a detailed look at how a preschool teacher, Ms. Sanchez, adapts her teaching to support a 3-year-old child, Cedric, with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Topics include the importance of individualized support plans for children with ASD, the teacher's collaboration with an early childhood special education professional, and the significance of using strategies such as turn-taking and social interaction to foster social and communicative development.
