Gifts-in-Kind and other Non-Cash Gifts

group of donors waving The University and Foundation welcome gifts of tangible personal property, real estate, and other non-cash assets to meet the Foundation's mission and support the University's priorities.

To ensure that such contributions can be used effectively and responsibly, all gifts-in-kind are subject to review prior to acceptance. This review is conducted collaboratively by the Foundation and the appropriate academic or administrative unit to confirm that the proposed gift is consistent with institutional needs, and that the University is able to provide for its use, maintenance, and long-term stewardship.

We are committed to working closely with donors throughout this process to ensure that each gift-in-kind achieves the greatest possible impact while meeting applicable policies and guidelines.

Most of these assets can be used for planned gifts as well as current outright gifts. Careful gift planning can result in special tax benefits to the donor, sometimes even increased income.
