Fall First-Year Student Guide

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR

ADMISSION TO EASTERN!

Dare to be extraordinary at Eastern Connecticut State University. It's a place where a love of learning is palpable - and the drive to make a difference is even more so. You are officially on your way to becoming a Warrior! This guide will help ensure that you are fully prepared for the start of the fall 2024 semester. All you have to do is follow these steps:

  • Take a moment to enjoy this incredible milestone in your life – you’re going to college! We can’t wait to celebrate with you. Join us for an Accepted Student Day event on March 24 or April 20, or an Accepted Student Tour offered most weekdays. Learn more at www.easternct.edu/visit.
  • Using the credentials and link on your acceptance letter or email, log in to your Eastern portal. Throughout the admission and enrollment process, your portal will continue to be updated with event registrations and other important information.
  • Be sure to complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible to ensure a timely financial aid offer. Once your aid offer is available, we’ll mail you a copy and you may view your offer online by following steps 1-10 on this page: www.easternct.edu/accept-aid.
  • Commit to being a Warrior! Deposits must be submitted to reserve courses and residence hall space by
June 1 (note that this is an extension from our previous May 1 deadline). To submit your deposit, refer to the instructions in your portal; call us at (860) 465-5286 with any questions.

Students living on-campus: $450 non-refundable tuition and housing deposit
    Students living off-campus: $200 non-refundable tuition deposit

  • Your Office 365 e-mail account is the primary source of communication between you and Eastern.
Your credentials are in your Admissions Portal, and account activation/deposit submission instructions are in your portal and linked here.
  • Visit Housing & Residential Life's website for detailed application instructions after submitting the deposits in Step 4. On the housing application, you may rank your top three residence halls. Want a refresher of the different options available for first-year students? Click here for a brief overview.

Building assignments begin in April and will be determined in a first-come, first-served manner based on the date your housing deposit is paid and the application is submitted. Roommate assignments are made in early June.
  • SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising and Registration) is an overnight orientation program in the
summer designed to introduce all new first-year students to life on campus. You’ll meet other new
students, student leaders, faculty and staff, become acclimated to campus and finalize your class
    schedule.

    In-Person Orientation Dates: June 17-18, June 20-21, June 24-25, or June 27-28

New first-year students must also complete our Orientation Online program by August 23.

To register for in-person SOAR and to access Orientation Online, visit
    www.easternct.edu/orientation.

  • Please go to Health Services for the required health forms. Be sure to review the “Five Things You Need to Read” form.
  • Starting on May 28, you will receive information from the Advising Center regarding fall course registration and a link to your First Year Preference Survey. This survey will need to be completed by June 7. Students who submit their deposits by June 1 will receive the survey on June 2.

The Advising Center will use your responses to register you for your fall classes; you do not need to register yourself.

Please see this page for more information about advising and registration.

  • Make sure your final high school transcript as well as any Advanced Placement exam scores and transcripts for college-level courses are submitted to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible.
  • Please follow the steps on this page to accept or decline any federal student loans that you were offered: www.easternct.edu/accept-aid. You will also need to complete your Entrance Counseling Exam and Master Promissory Note, which are linked on that page. If you were offered a merit scholarship or grant(s), those will be automatically accepted for you.
