Music students featured in Honors Recital and Award Ceremony
The Music Program held its annual Honors Recital and Award Ceremony on April 16, a showcase that featured the program's top performers and awarded students for academic excellence. To be featured, students enrolled in advanced music courses performed before a jury of faculty members who rated their proficiency in brass/wind, percussion, piano, string or voice. Read Story
History students present at Phi Alpha Theta regional conference
History students Claire Lavarreda ’21 and Allen Horn IV ’21 presented their research at a virtual conference of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society on March 27. Hosted by Saint Anselm College, the New England regional conference included 25 student presenters grouped into 11 panels from 16 colleges across the Northeast. Read Story
Eastern Opera Workshop performs ‘Dido and Aeneas’ via livestream
The Eastern Opera Workshop performed “Dido and Aeneas” on April 9 and 11. Written by English composer Henry Purcell more than 300 years ago, the baroque masterpiece “Dido and Aeneas” is a 60-minute opera with themes of love, jealousy, betrayal and grief. It is the story of two women, one motivated so much by jealousy and greed that she will stop at nothing to cause Queen Dido's demise. Read Story
Artists of ‘Precision’ speak on ‘Intersection of Art and Science’
The lyrics to “The Art of the Possible” from the musical “Evita” read: “One has no rules, is not precise, one rarely acts the same way twice. One spurns no device practicing the art of the possible.” Those lyrics aptly describe the exhibition “Precision: Illustrative Technique in Art and Science” being showcased at Eastern’s Art Gallery from March 15 to April 25. Professor Williams encourages students to take charge of destiny
On April 14, Theatre Professor DeRon Williams offered students advice on how to overcome obstacles while sharing some of his personal experiences. Williams began his presentation, “Overcoming Life’s Happening: Being Patient and Taking Charge of Your Destiny,” by sharing his educational background and reading from the poem “Mother to Son” by Langston Hughes.
