Eastern’s Visual Arts Club Curates Exhibit, “The Art Initiative.”
Earlier this semester Eastern Connecticut State University’s student-run Visual Arts Club curated an exhibit “The Art Initiative” to showcase student work. “We were trying to bring together students to showcase the best artwork that appears on campus and display that in one room,” said Brennan Yau, club president. “We were striving to create a professional art gallery environment and we got a lot of submissions from students from all majors.”
The club encouraged students from various departments to submit artwork in hopes of creating a professional gallery. “Visual Arts is a really valuable subject and we wanted to show the campus extraordinary work to allow students to appreciate this type of art,” said Nicole Lenares, club treasurer.
Led by faculty advisors Maline Werness-Rude and Gail Gelburd, the club aims to engage students through trips, activities and experiences related to visual arts. The club is led by President Brennan Yau, Vice President Lauren Duke, Treasure Nicole Lenares and Secretary Dean Bonney. The exhibit was a collaboration between the Visual Arts Club and the Art and Art History Department. The exhibit ran from March 10-18 in the Student Center. Admission was free and open to the public.
